Undoubtedly, Flisvos is a must during your visit to Corfu. Sitting beneath a canopy, the surroundings are one for the photo album… the gorgeous Corfiot coastline to your left, the old monastery and fisherman’s dock to your right, there really is no better place to sit back and watch the world go by. With indoor and outdoor seating there’s something to suit everyone, however; as with most foreign restaurants, the outdoor seating was also frequented by a gentle local cat and, less pleasant, a number of flies also hungry for some food, therefore the outdoor area may be better suited to those purchasing cooling refreshments only, as opposed to a full meal. Unfortunately, the restaurant is only situated a short drive from the airport, meaning that every 15 minutes or so a plane would fly noisily – and low – overhead, disturbing your meal… Nonetheless, this is clearly a great spot for plane-spotters and these can be observed from a better view from the nearby ‘Mouse’ island, a 2 minute boat ride away, which has a small hike up to the monastery.
The menu offered something for everyone, including club sandwiches and burgers in addition to traditional Greek cuisine: colourful salads, feta cheese and a multitude of seafood to choose from. Further to this, Flisvos also offered ice cream sundaes and a range of refreshing drinks to choose from. Whether you’re looking for an evening meal, an afternoon bite to eat, or a drink by the shore; you’re bound to find something to suit.

Opting for the cheese and bacon burger – a classic – we were not disappointed. The burger was served open, allowing you to smother it in a range of sauces – ketchup was served in a small dish on the plate – or pick out the unwanted elements. The bun was crisp, but not dry, and was served beneath a sizeable patty cooked perfectly, covered in a slice of melted American cheese and a rasher of bacon. The top bun was topped with some mayonnaise and salad: onions, lettuce and thick slice of tomato. The burger was large and succulent and accompanied with a generous portion of crispy fries. Enjoying this with a cold diet coke, it was a delicious meal and something we returned for. The only lacking element of the meal was that the burger only came with one rasher of bacon, which only covered half the burger. Considering the generosity of the other components this was disappointing as you were not able to get a full range of flavours in each bite – although not the end of the world.
The service was pleasant, and our food and drink was served within a reasonable period of ordering, however our server was not so attentive when it came to paying the bill and we resulted to going into the restaurant itself and paying at the register. Nevertheless, our meals were enjoyable and worth the wait. Whilst the occasional animal visitors were off-putting, it can be appreciated that flies + hot weather come together, especially around such delicious food. Unfortunately we do feel that the staff could have done more to keep stray cats away from their customers, especially those who were eating.
To conclude, our meals were delectable and the surroundings living true to the restaurant’s name; Flisvos translating to “the sound of the water rippling on the shore.”
